This project was not graded, but we had a contest within our class. We had about a 1-2 hour period of time to design a “______ of the Future”. Mine is a desk that has a touch screen on its surface and has many modular components in it.
Final Poster Design
KAZU Cup Contest
Our assignment was to create a cup design for a contest for the KAZU 90.3 FM radio station. Since its local, I decided to incorporate the palm tree and ocean, plus the mountains and redwoods that are iconic to the area.
Magazine Cover
Lemon Jelly Album Cover
We were tasked with creating an album cover for a band that we like. I chose to create an album for the group “Lemon Jelly”.
I used the font Bellybeans FG.
Journey Concert Poster
Our project was to create a concert poster for a band. I chose to create a poster for Journey.
The fonts that I used were Imprint MT Shadow and The Kiss Font. I used only Adobe Illustrator.
I also used a scanner to scan in a pencil sketch that I made. I drew the poster and then scanned it in. I used the pen tool in Illustrator to trace the “Journey” letters. Everything else was free drawn in Illustrator.
Verve Identity Package
Once we created our logo, we were given the task to create an identity package for our brand. We needed to create a package with a letterhead, business card, CD, envelope, and another piece of “swag”. I chose to add the logo to a wooden coffee scoop as my extra “swag”.
Here is the source of the spoon image.
Logo Development Project
For this project we were supposed to either create our own company to make a logo for, or recreate the logo for an existing company. I chose Verve for no other reason than I thought I could do some cool stuff with it and it was the first thing I though of.
Here are my first 15 logo ideas:
I chose my favorite logo idea and made some pencil sketches building on the design:
And now, here it the final design in Black and White, and Color:
Google Logo History
In this writing assignment, I will be tracing the history of the Google logo. The original logo was created by founder Larry Page in 1996 when Google still had the code-name “Back Rub”. The logo is very self explanatory, just a hand rubbing a back and a very simple title.
When the project was renamed “Google”, a misspelled version of the number “googol” (1×10^100), someone at Stanford created a logo. The use of the word “googol” was to show how big Google’s processing potential was. This first real logo has no known origin and just sort of showed up in 1997 on the Stanford servers.
In 1998, the co-creator Sergey Brin used the program “Gimp” to make a new logo. This logo retained the playful colors of the original logo.
In 1999, the colors of the logo were switched around and an exclamation point was added at the end, most likely inspired by the Yahoo logo of the time.
